Community Pope John XXIII: 43, Mandrokleous Street
Person Responsible: Fabiola Bianchi

Induction moment: The door of the family-house is always opened to welcome new people who would like to have a first contact with its members. The visitors and the family of the association sit together around the kitchen’s table and introduce themselves to each other. Fabiola and Filippo, wife and husband, tell the story of Pope John XXIII’s family-house since the decision they took to leave Italy in order to implement their mission in Greece. After this moment, the visitors can discuss together with Filippo and Fabiola whether they would like to be involved in the activities of the program:

Bethlehem Hut
This is a project developed by the Association Pope John XXIII and it is providing a shelter for the homeless people who live in Athens. The guest of the hut are gathered in the home provided for in the evening and have the possibility to take a shower, do a washing circle, spend some time together, sleep in a proper bed and, the next day, they all have a breakfast together. The capacity of the hut is, until now, for 8 homeless persons per day, two times per week. On Tuesdays and Fridays morning, whoever is available can help in tidying up the place.

*Whoever would like to take part to the project has to be availiable or Monday evening & Tuesday Morning or
Thursday evening & Friday Morning. The volunteers have to be availiable for the service during a period of at least 2
weeks. For safety reasons the volunteers must be over 18 year old.

Street Sharing
This project is about sharing together with the homeless people from the streets of Athens and the suburbs, bringing them something they may need such as food, clothes, blankets, first aid, medicine or simply time and a kind word.
This activity is organized on Wednesday evening.

*For the groups of visitors, the maximum number of participants is 3.
